Mars' shield of arms (original)
Original pendant inspired by the greco-roman religion and the apollonian cult.
Mars/Ares is the god of war and guardian of agriculture, patron of soldiers and farmers, protector of the protectors, he is the son of Jupiter and brother of Apollo and Diana. He inspired great strength of character, dignitas, pietas, gloria, simplicitas, integritas, gravitas and virtus in the Romans who worshipped him.
The shield is in the shape of Achilles' shield as depicted on the 'Hydria with Achilles' weapons' vase from 575 BC (Louvre), it hosts in its center two roman gladii, representing the two sons of Mars: Romulus & Remus, founders of Rome. The four extremities of the swords represent the position of the planet Mars in the solar system: 4th.
The vertical lines represent wooden rods of fasces or spears/pilums - fasces that symbolize the unity of the race of Ares facing outsiders - that are disposed like solar rays.
